Types of Arthritis

Live long enough and you can pretty much count on experiencing some form of arthritic problem: a touch of joint stiffness at the very least.
Arthritis ('arth' meaning joint, 'itis' meaning inflammation) isn't a one-note story or even a few variations on a single theme; it actually comes in many forms. The common denominator is joint and musculoskeletal pain, which is why they are grouped together as 'arthritis.' Often that pain is a result of inflammation of the joint lining.
The arthritis types listed above are those our joint relief oil has had unequivocal results in providing real relief. You can click on the links to learn more about the different symptoms.
The most common form of the disease is Rheumatoid Arthritis where in the USA there are millions of sufferers. This form of arthritis in the UK tends to be called Rheumatism.
We have treated pain syndromes and related disorders that involve every part of the body. There are forms of the disease, such as gout, that almost nobody connects with arthritis It's not just a disease of the old either, some forms of arthritic disease can affect young children.

Ankylosing Spondylitis

Ankylosing spondylitis is inflammation of the spine and large joints, resulting in stiffness and pain. Applying liberal amounts of Natural Botanical Solutions Joint Massage Oil has been particularly effective in treating this form of arthritis and the formula has an aroma so that males can use it liberally without embarrassment.

The disease is 3 times more common in men than in women, developing most commonly between the ages of 20 and 40. Its cause is not known, but the disease tends to run in families, indicating that genetics plays a role. Ankylosing spondylitis is 10 to 20 times more common in people whose parents or siblings have it.

Most people with Ankylosing spondylitis may develop some disabilities but can still lead normal, productive lives. In some people, the disease is more progressive, causing severe deformities. We recommend that alongside regular massage with Natural Botanical Solutions JRub Organic Massage Oil the long-range goals are to maintain proper posture and develop strong back muscles. Daily exercises strengthen the muscles that oppose the tendency to bend and stoop. It has been suggested that people spend some time each day--often while reading--lying on their stomach propped up on their elbows; this position extends the back and helps to prevent too much flexion.

Ankylosing Spondylitis Symptoms

Mild to moderate flare-ups of inflammation generally alternate with periods of almost no symptoms.

The most common Ankylosing Spondylitis Symptom is back pain, which varies in intensity from one episode to another and from one person to another. Pain is often worse at night and in the morning. Early morning stiffness that is relieved by activity is also very common. Pain in the lower back and bending forward often relieves the associated muscle spasms. Therefore, people often assume a stooped posture, which can lead to a permanent bent-over position. In others, the spine becomes noticeably straight and stiff.

Loss of appetite, weight loss, fatigue, and anaemia can accompany the back pain. If the joints connecting the ribs to the spine are inflamed, the pain may limit the ability to expand the chest to take a deep breath. Occasionally, pain starts in large joints, such as the hips, knees, and shoulders.

Other Ankylosing Spondylitis Symptoms include recurring attacks of mild eye inflammation, which usually does not impair vision. In a few people, inflammation of a heart valve results in a permanently damaged valve. If the damaged vertebrae press against nerves or the spinal cord, numbness, weakness, or pain can develop in the area supplied by the affected nerves. The cauda equina (horse's tail) syndrome is a rare complication.

Affected joints, show a wearing away (erosion) of the joint between the spine and the hip bone (sacroiliac joint) and the formation of bony bridges between the vertebrae, making the spine stiff. In addition, a specific gene, HLA-B27, is found in about 90% of people who have this disease; however, because this gene is also found in about 6 to 7% of healthy white people, its presence is of limited value in diagnosis.

Childhood Arthritis

Childhood Arthritis is something very close to our hearts at Natural Botanical Solutions. We have only dealt with one case, but we knew we had something when the happy parents contacted us because their five year old son was saying "No more pills mummy, just let me have the "tingly" oil".

That was three years ago and he is better now. If you are concerned about Juvenile Arthritis please read below. If you know a child with this problem please get in touch as we really would like to help.

Chronic childhood arthritis, sometimes referred to as juvenile rheumatoid arthritis or juvenile chronic arthritis, is quite different from adult rheumatoid arthritis. In fact, many people have dropped the word 'rheumatoid' and now call chronic childhood arthritis juvenile arthritis, or JA.

JA is defined as continuous inflammation of one or more joints lasting at least six weeks for which no other cause can be found.

Juvenile Arthritis

• Childhood arthritis is a disease that occurs in children under the age of 16.

• It causes pain, stiffness and swelling in one or more of the joints. This pain, stiffness and swelling is called inflammation. With childhood arthritis the inflammation lasts longer than six weeks, and is not caused by an injury or other illness.

• Childhood arthritis is also called juvenile arthritis.

No one knows for sure what causes JA. We do know that it usually does not run in families, and arthritis is almost never passed from a parent to a child. Therefore, the chances of your child passing arthritis on to his/her children would be extremely rare. JA is definitely not contagious. Juvenile arthritis is among the most common chronic childhood disorders.

There can be important problems with JA:

Occasionally, if the arthritis is severe, a slowing of growth may occur. The growth will usually return to normal once the arthritis has improved. In addition, there may be changes in the growth of the individual joints that have been affected by arthritis. For example, knee inflammation may cause the leg to grow slightly faster than the non-inflamed side. Jaw inflammation may result in a small chin. It is important to pay careful attention to all aspects of your child's growth.

Sometimes a child with JA may suffer from inflammation inside the eye called 'chronic uveitis' that might reduce vision. Also known as iridocyclitis or iritis, this inflammation often occurs without symptoms or visible signs so that you and your child may not be aware of its presence. Therefore, it is important for the child's eyes to be checked regularly, even if they are not red or painful. In the early stages, this inflammation can only be detected by a special examination, which must be done by an ophthalmologist (a physician specially trained in eye care and treatment).

Gout and Pseudogout

Perhaps the oldest known type of arthritis, gout or gouty arthritis has been described since Hippocrates in the 5th century B.C. An acute attack of gout is a highly inflammatory arthritis often with intense swelling, redness and warmth surrounding the joint. The inflammatory component is so intense; an acute attack of gout is often mistaken for a bacterial cellulitis. Even among other types of inflammatory arthritis, gout is considered the most painful with the patient unable to bear weight or put on a shoe over the affected joint. Chills, a low-grade fever and an elevated white blood cell count can also occur
Gout and Pseudogout are the two most common crystal-induced arthropathies. They are debilitating illnesses in which pain and joint inflammation is caused by the formation of crystals within the joint space. Gout is inflammation caused by monosodium urate monohydrate (MSU) crystals. Pseudogout is inflammation caused by calcium pyrophosphate (CPP) crystals and is sometimes referred to as calcium pyrophosphate disease (CPPD).

Gout is by far the most common. In 1848, Sir Alfred Garrod linked gout with hyperuricemia, but the pathophysiology of acute gouty arthritis was not described fully until 1962.
Since then, gout has been associated with a large number of different autoimmune and metabolic disorders. Specific therapies and prophylactic measures have been developed to address the underlying problem along with eliminating those ancient myths that often exposed a gout sufferer to lack of sympathy or outright ridicule.
Most types are related to crystals with an ionic charge, making it needle like in formation. There are a multitude of cationic hydrocarbons in Natural Botanical Solutions Joint Massage oil. We have received countless customer indications that the oil has often proved effective in most cases of Gout and can eventually bring about a reduction in the likely hood of further attack. Our Natural Botanical Solution for gout aims to terminate the acute attack, prevent complications, and prevent recurrent attacks.

When the attack is severe, we recommend at least half the bottle used immediately, massaged into the skin areas as close as you can get with out it hurting. Once the pain has subsided you can apply gently to the affected areas and when the attack is over and application once or twice a week will help avoid reoccurrence.
Natural Botanical Solutions Joint Massage Oil has no side affects and will not interfere with any treatments prescribed by your Doctor.

What is lupus

Lupus is the name given to a group of chronic autoimmune diseases where the body's immune system stops working properly. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is the most common and serious type of lupus.
The immune system's job is to fight off germs and disease. However, with SLE the immune system attacks healthy tissues and causes them to become swollen and painful. This inflammation can happen anywhere or everywhere.
Lupus begins when the immune system that normally protects the body from germs, viruses, and bacteria begins to malfunction. It generates antibodies that attack healthy tissue in different parts of the body. These tissues become inflamed as a result. Inflammation can occur in the skin, muscles, joints, heart, lungs, kidneys, blood vessels and the nervous system. SLE can fluctuate between active periods (flare-ups or exacerbation), and times of minimal symptoms or no symptoms (remission).

What causes lupus?

The exact cause of lupus is unknown. Some people with lupus have other family members with it. Since it often affects women during their childbearing years, there may be a link between lupus and hormones. Certain external factors, such as particular medications, viruses, sun exposure, and prolonged and severe stress, are also thought to trigger the onset of SLE. This is also not fully understood, and therefore the cause of lupus will be unknown until scientists gain more knowledge about the functioning of the immune system.
Lupus is a different disease for each person it affects because it can target any of the body's tissues. Each person has his or her own combination of symptoms and these symptoms range from mild to severe. The symptoms are similar to those of arthritis and rheumatism.
Lupus is the most challenging arthritic disease so our Natural Botanical Solution suggests that if you have any genetic links with Lupus, use our massage oil straight away on a daily basis for prevention.
Whilst the Joint Massage Oil contains a high volume of the necessary fatty acids and cox-2 enzyme inhibitors to help, if you already suffer from Lupus, you may need to contact us personally. We pledge to utilise our wealth of experience to produce a specific formula for your needs.

Osteoarthritis

A critical question is whether Osteoarthritis is truly a disease or a natural consequence of aging. Cartilage is a unique tissue with viscoelastic and compressive properties. Several differences between aging cartilage and Osteoarthritis cartilage have been described, suggesting the former. For example, although denatured type II collagen is found in both normal aging and Osteoarthritis cartilage, it is more predominant in Osteoarthritis. In addition, Osteoarthritis and normal aging cartilage differ in the amount of water content and the in ratio of chondroitin-sulphate to keratin sulphate constituents. The expression of a chondroitin-sulphate epitope (epitope 846) in Osteoarthritis cartilage, provides further evidence that Osteoarthritis is a distinct pathologic process. A final but important distinction is that degradative enzyme activity is increased in Osteoarthritis, but not in normal aging cartilage.
The primary enzymes responsible for the degradation of cartilage are secreted by both synovial cells and chondrocytes. In Osteoarthritis, the available inhibitors are overwhelmed, resulting in net degradation. Fibrillation, erosion and cracking initially appear in the superficial layer of cartilage and progress over time to deeper layers, resulting eventually in large clinically observable erosions. Osteoarthritis, in simplistic terms, therefore, can be thought of as a process of progressive cartilage matrix degradation to which an ineffectual attempt at repair is made.

A vital component of Natural Botanical Solutions Joint Massage oil are the powerful omega-3 fatty acids. During our controlled blending process it is theorised that amino-acid peptides or formed thus creating a positive feedback loop of inhibitor activation in cartilage that can provide temporary relief through molecular bonding with the synovial vasculature.
Our Natural Botanical Solution gives great results for Osteoarthritis Treatment and stiffness due to old age alike.

Polymyalgia rheumatica

The name polymyalgia rheumatica actually comes from Greek words. In Greek, 'poly' means 'many,' 'my' means 'muscle,' and 'algia' means 'pain' (many muscle pain) and 'rheumatica' refers to 'muscle and soft tissue.'
This is a type of arthritis that affects the muscles of the neck, shoulders, lower back, hips and thighs.
It does not affect the bones, or the joints, which are the spots where two bones come together.

It causes muscles to become stiff, tender and very sore. Even though the muscles are sore they do not become weak. Our Botanical Solution Joint Massage Oil is particularly effective, giving credible relief often very soon after application. That is important because this disease is mentally rather than physically debilitating because the pain does not effect freedom of movement.

Women develop polymyalgia rheumatica more often than men.
It most often appears in women over the age of 50.
Polymyalgia rheumatica predominantly affects Caucasian women over the age of 50. Giant cell arthritis affects both men and women, usually over 50 years of age, who may or may not have polymyalgia rheumatica.

Polymyalgia Rheumatica Symptoms

The exact cause of polymyalgia rheumatica is not known.
Some people with polymyalgia rheumatica have other family members with it.
No one knows what causes polymyalgia rheumatica. Genetic factors may play a part, and so the disease might be hereditary.

Learn as much as you can about this disease. Speaking with people who are specialists in arthritis care can provide you with the information you need and try our massage oil under the no quibble money back guarantee. You will not be disappointed.
We have found that a patients active involvement in deciding their own treatment plan is essential.

What is Polymyositis?

Polymyositis is an inflammatory muscle disease that causes varying degrees of decreased muscle power. The disease has a gradual onset and generally begins in the second decade of life. Polymyositis rarely affects persons under the age of 18. The most common symptom is muscle weakness, usually affecting those muscles that are closest to the trunk of the body (proximal).

Eventually, patients have difficulty rising from a sitting position, climbing stairs, lifting objects, or reaching overhead. In some cases, distal muscles (those not close to the trunk of the body) may also be affected later in the course of the disease. Very rarely, the muscles ache and are tender to touch. The disease may be associated with other collagen vascular, autoimmune or infectious disorders .

Polymyositis Treatment

Treatment for polymyositis generally consists of a steroid drug called prednisone. For patients in whom prednisone is not effective, immunosuppressants such as azathioprine and methotrexate may be prescribed. All of these have associated side effects.
Recently, the Bayer Pharmaceutical company removed its popular cholesterol lowering drug Baycol from the market after reports that at least 40 people have died after developing myositis and rhabdomyolysis caused by the drug.
The prognosis for polymyositis varies. Response to our joint massage therapy varies from very good to satisfactory. Some patients have a more severe disease that we hope can be improved by long term use Natural Botanical Solutions Joint Massage oil. See our Unsolicited Testimonials.

Psoriatic Arthritis

Psoriatic arthritis is a form of joint inflammation that occurs in some people who have psoriasis of the skin or nails.
The disease resembles rheumatoid arthritis but does not produce the antibodies characteristic of rheumatoid arthritis. Psoriatic arthritis occurs in about 7% of people with psoriasis (a skin condition causing flare-ups of red, scaly rashes and thickened, pitted nails). A severe form of psoriatic arthritis can occur in some people with AIDS.

Psoriatic Arthritis Symptoms & Diagnosis

Inflammation usually affects joints of the fingers and toes, although other joints, including the hips and spine, are often affected as well. The joints may become swollen and deformed when inflammation is chronic. Arthritis often involves joints less symmetrically than in rheumatoid arthritis and involves fewer joints. The joints at the end of the fingers adjacent to the diseased nails may be involved. The skin and joint symptoms sometimes appear and disappear together.

Identifying the characteristic joint inflammation in a person who has psoriasis or a family history of psoriasis is essential for diagnosis. There are no tests to confirm the diagnosis, but x-rays help show the extent of joint damage.

Psoriatic Arthritis Prognosis and Treatment

The prognosis for psoriatic arthritis is usually better than that for rheumatoid arthritis because fewer joints are affected. Nonetheless, the joints can be severely damaged.

Treatment is aimed at controlling the skin rash and relieving the joint inflammation. Several drugs that are effective in treating rheumatoid arthritis are also used to treat psoriatic arthritis. They include gold compounds, methotrexate, cyclosporine, sulfasalazine, and tumour necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors. Another drug, etretinate (which is used for severe acne), is usually effective in severe cases, but its side effects may be serious. Because etretinate can cause birth defects, pregnant women should not take it. Moreover, etretinate remains in the body for a long time, so women should not become pregnant while taking the drug or for at least 1 year after discontinuing it.

Our Natural Botanical Solution is safe, effective and side effect free. Simply massage directly into the skin, there are no additives such as known psoriasis irritators like lanolin.

Reiters Syndrome

Reiter's syndrome (reactive arthritis) is inflammation of the joints and tendon attachments at the joints, often accompanied by inflammation of the eye's conjunctiva and the mucous membranes, such as those of the mouth and genitourinary tract, and by a distinctive rash.

Reiter's syndrome is also called reactive arthritis because the joint inflammation appears to be a reaction to an infection originating in the intestine or genital tract. This syndrome is most common in men aged 20 to 40.

There are two forms of Reiter's syndrome. One occurs with sexually transmitted diseases such as a chlamydial infection and occurs most often in young men; the other usually follows an intestinal infection such as shigellosis or salmonellosis. Most people who have these infections do not develop Reiter's syndrome. People who develop Reiter's syndrome after exposure to these infections appear to have a genetic predisposition to this type of reaction, related in part to the same gene found in people who have ankylosing spondylitis. There is some evidence that the chlamydia and possibly other bacteria actually spread to the joints, but the roles of the infection and the immune reaction to it are not clear.

Reiters Syndrome Symptoms

Typically, symptoms begin 7 to 14 days after the infection. Inflammation of the urethra (the channel that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body) can result either directly from infection of the urethra or even from a reaction to the intestinal infection. In men, inflammation of the urethra causes moderate pain and a discharge from the penis or a rash on the glans of the penis (balanitis circinata). The prostate gland may be inflamed and painful. The genital and urinary symptoms in women, if any occur, are usually mild, consisting of a slight vaginal discharge or uncomfortable urination.

The conjunctiva (the membrane that lines the eyelid and covers the eyeball) can become red and inflamed, causing itching or burning and excessive tearing. Joint pain and inflammation may be mild or severe. Several joints are usually affected at once--especially the knees, toe joints, and areas where tendons are attached to bones, such as at the heels.
Small, painless or tender sores can develop in the mouth. Occasionally, a distinctive rash of hard, thickened spots may develop on the skin, especially of the palms and soles (keratoderma blennorrhagicum). Yellow deposits may develop under the fingernails and toenails.

Joint and spinal deformities may develop if the symptoms persist or recur frequently so it is important for early diagnosis

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory disease resulting in swelling, pain, and often lasting damage of joints.
Worldwide, rheumatoid arthritis develops in about 1% of the population, regardless of race or country of origin, affecting women 2 to 3 times more often than men. Usually, rheumatoid arthritis first appears between 25 and 50 years of age, but it may occur at any age. Rheumatoid arthritis can occur in children--the disease is then called juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, and the symptoms and prognosis are somewhat different.
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that attacks the soft tissue lining the joints. It can also attack connective tissue in many other parts of the body, such as the blood vessels and lungs. If left unchecked, the cartilage, bone, and ligaments of the joint erode, causing deformity, instability, and scarring within the joint. The joints deteriorate at a highly variable rate. Many factors, including genetic predisposition, may influence the pattern of the disease.
Rheumatoid arthritis may start suddenly, with many joints becoming inflamed at the same time. More often, it starts subtly, gradually affecting different joints. The inflamed joints are usually painful and often stiff, especially just after awakening or after inactivity like sitting down to read a paper. Some people feel tired and weak, especially in the early afternoon. Affected joints enlarge because of swelling of the soft tissue and can quickly become deformed. Joints may freeze in one position so that they cannot bend or open fully. The fingers may tend to dislocate slightly from their normal position toward the little finger on each hand, causing tendons in the fingers to slip out of place. You can reduce your suffering today with Natural Botanical Solutions Joint Massage Oil.

What are inflammatory Bcells?

When the body's immune system gets activated, something called B cells develops into antibodies, initiating a chain of events leading to inflammation. When produced without an invasive target, they act against the body's own healthy tissue. But B cells are just one player in the chain of events leading to arthritic disease; there are also T cells, tumour necrosis factor-a (TNF-a), C-reactive protein (CRP) and Cox-2 enzymes. Inflammation and pain are the result of these cells reacting in turn, one after the other, like a chain of falling dominoes. As the B cells are triggered very early in the domino chain, if they were effectively taken out of the equation, TNF and other "dominoes" in the chain would no longer triggered. Inflammation is nipped in the bud and the disease is short-circuited. B cells have a protein on their surface. We believe that very soon after application, certain elements in our formula react with the protein, starving the B cells and effectively disabling them. With regular use, reoccurrence is limited at the B cells, reducing pain and discomfort by preventing them from starting the domino action. With the other building blocks in the recipe you have a powerful armoury for repair and healing that hundreds of thousands of people have testified to since the discovery of the formula.

Because B cells trigger rheumatoid factor, people with a positive blood test for rheumatoid factor may benefit the most.
